APRIL 23 -
JUNE 11, 2011

Opening reception: Saturday, April 23, from 7 to 9 pm

the videoh0le project space at n o m a gallery presents 3 new videos by artist dina danish.

in these videos basic strategies of early cinema effect are used to engage ideas of failure and concealment. before the advent of digital effects, film used ingenuity and a leap of faith to create illusion. often failing to produce the desired results, these effects left behind a dialect of failed and humorous attempts which have at this point become melancholic place holders and reminders of an analogue time.

by translating these overlooked cinematic moments into homespun videos, danish infers personal agency tracing parallels between filmic illusion and attempts towards everyday living.
